Who Is Miss Maine?
As you begin the process, you will ask yourself "Who is Miss Maine?" We would like for you to consider the following criteria. Keep in mind you are vying for the title of Miss Maine and what it represents, but you could also be the next Miss America.
Miss Maine should desire to be Miss Maine.
- She should understand the cultural fibers and uniqueness of Maine.
- She should understand the organization, the job responsibilities and time commitment for both her year of service as well as preparations for the national pageant.
Miss Maine is an ambassador of Goodwill and also a Spokesperson.
- She must be approachable, have an even temperament, and is consistently easy to get along with.
- She is diplomatic, demonstrates courtesy and respect, and exhibits not only a good first impression, but also a lasting one.
- She is articulate and has a concise use of verbal skills.
- She understands she is looked up to, but she is a servant of the people.
Miss Maine is cooperative, teachable, and willing to work hard to excel.
- She understands the meaning of teamwork.
Miss Maine is vested in her community.
- She has a deep interest in the development of her state.
- She is an advocate of her chosen platform.
- She demonstrates a passion to make a positive change.
Miss Maine desires educational advancement.
- She is intelligent, ambitious and wants to further her personal educational growth.
- She encourages others to pursue educational opportunities.
Miss Maine is talented.
- She need not be the most talented, but she should be talented, have showmanship and stage presence.
- She exhibits the willingness to reach beyond her limits to excel in her chosen art form.
Miss Maine generally excels or is consistent in all phases of competition.
- She is poised, charismatic, mature, attractive, and energetic.
- She values excellence and is consistently seeking it.
- The judges will look for genuine qualities through open-ended questions during the interview phase of competition and observations throughout all phases of competition.
Miss Maine has many job responsibilities.
- She makes appearances throughout her year of service in commercial and corporate environments.
- She fosters business and community relationships in the name of the Miss Maine/Miss America Organizations.
- She is an ambassador and public relations representative for the Miss Maine Scholarship Pageant and for her personal platform issue.
- She performs at various functions, openings, trade shows, and community affairs when suitable.
- She encourages young women and children to pursue educational advancement and challenges them to explore their individual talents.
