Miss Maine 2019
Carolyn Brady is a graduate of Bowdoin College. She currently serves as an AmeriCorps Member through the LearningWorks Aim High Program in Portland, Maine, where she supports students’ academic, social, and emotional growth by providing tutoring, mentoring, and extended learning opportunities inside and outside of the classroom.
Carolyn has studied the violin since the age of five, and will be taking this talent with her to the Miss America stage. In addition to participating in the Bowdoin College Orchestra and a variety of Bowdoin Quartets and Trios over the course of her four years as a Polar Bear, she has also studied with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra and was a student at the Philadelphia International Music Festival for five years.
Her Social Impact Initiative, entitled Immigration Builds Our Nation, seeks to highlight the contributions that refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants make to our country, and to encourage a welcoming and accepting environment for our new neighbors. We must always remember that the United States is a nation of immigrants, and we are stronger as a result of our diversity.
In addition to serving as our current Miss Maine and an AmeriCorps Volunteer, Carolyn can be found helping the Mt. Ararat Middle School Track Team as an Assistant Coach, working at either of her part-time jobs in the fitting rooms at Nordstrom Rack or J.Crew Factory, or volunteering with the Girl Scouts of Maine, as she is both a Lifetime Girl Scout and Gold Award Recipient. Carolyn looks forward to serving the Pine Tree State over the course of her year of service, and she hopes to be the first woman representing Maine to bring home the Miss America crown!
